ISSUES

TRANSPORTATION

As the initial advocate to the commission concerning the transportation needs of Augusta, Dr. Myles is an integral part of the driving force for changing the way our bus system works. She believes that every citizen needs a clean, safe, and reliable mode of transportation. The recent growth in the South Augusta area calls for an expansion that our current bus system unfortunately cannot meet."Residents deserve an efficient and convenient way to go about their daily tasks. No Augustan should ever have to worry if they cannot make it to work, search for a new job, or run errands due to the lack of a functional bus system. It is time for change."A more efficient system will save our city money and decrease the unemployment rate as more people will gain access to jobs because they will now have a new way to go to work. Dr. Myles understands that a dependable mode of transportation is essential to our city's financial health and economic development.

EMPLOYMENT

I understand that a dependable mode of transportation is essential to our city's financial health and economic development, but so are educational programs. In order to lower the unemployment rate, I will promote programs that provide citizens with the education and skills necessary to secure jobs. Vocational and secondary programs will help unemployed Augustans succeed in their job hunt.

ACCOUNTABILITY

For far too long Augusta has been beleaguered by financial problems. I will promote transparency, and I fully believe that our city is capable of operating under a reasonable, balanced budget. We should examine our past successes and examine what strategies have worked best for our city in order to find new innovative ways to reinstate them. Revitalizing fundamental economic principles could potentially reset our city’s finances. We Can’t Wait for those in office, or who have been in office, to talk about change. It's time for a new approach NOW Augusta.

MODERNIZATION

Downtown Augusta has always been a center of commerce and I believe that it is time to revitalize it. I want to reawaken downtown by attracting small business owners to the area, locating other government offices downtown, and creating living spaces for new tenants to rent by realigning our tax code to serve these goals.
